Safety, efficiency, hygiene: Automated waste and laundry system in Oslo, Norway

Automated vacuum transfer services use air pressure to transport waste and linen through a network of tubes. These solutions revolutionize waste and linen management by efficiently removing dirty linen and waste from wards, ensuring the highest hygiene levels in clinical settings.

03 December 2024

In April 2024, we partnered with the Finnish company Ecosir—a specialist in automated vacuum transfer services. This collaboration allows us to provide a more comprehensive approach to transport automation, now including waste and linen management.

We are now pleased to share that Oslo University Hospital's New Rikshospitalet will benefit from this efficient and environmentally friendly system when it opens to patients in 2031. The system is designed to handle four types of waste and laundry: laundry, residual waste, paper, and plastic. It is expected to transport nearly 3,000 tons of residual waste, 670 tons of paper, and 15 tons of plastic annually.

We are proud to contribute to the development of future-oriented healthcare facilities in collaboration with the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority and all project stakeholders. Supporting one of the largest hospital construction projects in the Nordic region with advanced technology underscores our commitment to innovation and excellence in healthcare.
